1. Final Projects 3D Scanning
 
Project - Scooter Front Nose
Overview-
  • It was a Reverse Engineering project, with 3D White Light Scanning. After importing STL, Data alignment was set according to the mold opening direction
  • The complex surfaces were created by using B-splines and NURBS and were controlled by control points within certain degrees.
  • The surfaces were turned to solid by sewing, the model then scaled according to the properties of the material.
  • Lastly, core and cavity were extracted from the solid model with sliders and lifters

Project - Motor Bike Mudguard
Overview-
  • Firstly, 3D white light scanning was imported into the NX environment and then later its alignment was set according to the mold opening direction
  • The points were then drawn out from the facet body for surface creating applications and for deviation analysis.
  • The curves were drawn on those points for building up the structure for surfaces
  • The surfaces were sewed and turned to solid, the model then scaled according to the properties of the material. Finally, core and cavity were planned according to the requirements.

Project - Motor Bike Side Panel
Overview-
  • The project was started by importing 3D white light scanning and then aligning it according to the mold opening direction, as it was to be Re-Engineered
  • The splines were drawn on the points, which,  extracted from the scanning for the reference to build a structure
  • The complex surfaces were created on that very splines and then were controlled by the control points and degrees.
  • The surfaces were sewed and turned to solid, the model then scaled according to the properties of the material. Finally, core and cavity were planned according to the requirements.

2. Intermediate Projects
 
  Project - Wall Hanging Fan Motor Case
Overview-
  • I started with the basics as the project had straight geometries
  • The parameters were measured by using some latest mechanical tools like Vernier Caliper, Height Gauge, Micrometer and many others.
  • The outer casing was made by revolving a section, drawn in sketcher, later making it hollow.
  • I subtracted the slots from the solid body with a curve which was array by polar method in the top view, the side feature was simple extrusion with some blends

  Project - Car Steering Device
Overview-
  • The project I am writing about was made by Reverse Engineering process, and the reference was taken from a blue print.
  • I started with sketcher tools (Line, Arc, intersection curve, circle, etc) for making the curvature by using multiple datum planes
  • The parameters were measured by using some latest mechanical tools like Vernier Caliper, Height Gauge, Micrometer and many others.
  • The project was worth to implement the techniques, were learnt.

  Project - Iron handle
Overview-
  • The 3D scanning was brought in use due to the curvature at the periphery.
  • The other parameters were measured by using some latest mechanical tools like Vernier Caliper, Height Gauge, Micrometer and many others.
  • I started with sketcher tools (Line, Arc, intersection curve, circle, etc) for making the curvature by using multiple datum planes.
  • Sweep along guide was used for making curved section, slot for a depression, blends, tube for inner hollow shape, etc

  Project - Compact Disc box
Overview-
  • I started with the basics as the project had straight geometries
  • The parameters were measured by using some latest mechanical tools like Vernier Caliper, Height Gauge, Micrometer and many others.
  • The cover was made by revolving a section, drawn in sketcher, after turning to solid I made it hollow. For locking arrangement, I made one lock and copied it with polar array as it had simple extrusion and draft value.
  • The base was made by referring the cover, and Ribs at the bottom for strength purposes.

  Project - Gasket
Overview-
  • The shape was created in sketcher by using 3D scanning because of the curvatures, as the application of the part is to seize the leakage. 
  • The parameters were measured by using some latest mechanical tools like Vernier Caliper, Height Gauge, Micrometer and many others.
  • Lastly, curves were extruded according to the requirement.

3. Beginners Projects
 
Models created below were referred from Siemens and CADshiksha’s project books.
Their structures were made parametrically on ‘sketcher’ and detailed in ‘Modeling’.
The figures are the common exercise for all the candidates.
